HAIR EXTENSION WEFT- INSTALL TUTORIAL

Post  Singer on Sat 12 Jan 2008, 9:48 pm

I will make my tutorial a quick and easy 1-2-3-

First you want your hair to be fresh dry and clean when you are doing a tape install.

No Creams or oily anything , other wise your tape will not stick that well.
Here is my hair before install

[b]I sew my wefts together so it makes it smaller / flatter and it holds better
when your cleaning it.
Also the reason I sew them together is if your weft is glued only sometimes
your lower/ bottom weft can slide out.

I am using 3 hand tied and 1 weft here, Most girls only use 2 tops in each row,
They do many rows on there heads I only do 1 or 2 tops I feel less is more
and its a natural look with less wefts.

Here is a brown shot sewing to them together is just a safe bet when cleaning
it will all stay together.

You should have your AIRFLEX tape. or SUPERTAPE
AND NOW THERE IS BLUE LINER TAPE FOR A SUPER DUPER HOLD
I THINK THIS IS GREAT IF YOUR GOING SWIMMING A LOT.

I cut it about here so the tape is not too wide on the outside of my head

You will then peel the blue strip and strip off and then lay your hair about 1/8"
above the bottom of the tape

THEN brush or pore some use a syrunge to add your lg accross the whole weft

Now you add your globby layer of glue across the tape. Don't do it thin.

Now fold the rest of the tape over your weft press down on top of the tape and glue

and then you can run a flat iron over it if you like and press with a comb first .

Now you want to keep the backing on the side thats lying on the table for easy application of LG,
and also so it wont stick to your hands

[b]Ok now that you have your hair in the tape weft.
You can do a part where ever your going to add it on your head
I do it about right below my Occipital Bone or right on top it falls better
if it sits right on top, this way it wont bunch up on your lower neck.

My part is not that great but who's looking
I do it all the way around and about and 1" above my ear,
mine ends right in front of my ear so from ear to ear is my 1 weft
You will peal off the white strip.
Leaving a small amount so you can press down, and not stick to the tape

WITH THE SMALL WHITE STRIP you can now press press press
I let mine sit for at least 3-4 min pressing the whole time and then I peel off the white strip
and add my extra hair to cover the sticky tape -
Some girls just take there own hair and drop it down over the tape and press.
I don't have that much hair to spare so I Cover it

Now you can press press press and make sure that is is really secure
and then you are done.

k so here is the New install of
my Indian 20 inch long hair,
Color #22 and under I added color #6
So I have on 1 weft ear to ear 3 wefts- tapped in with LG.
Can't live with out my LG.
HERE IS THE BACK SHOT

I do get my hair weaved 1 every 2 -3 months by my daughter she is a great colorist and then I just do a quick root job with a cheap box of Revlon color silk ash blonde lightest blonde I only leave it in maybe 3-5 min-you dont want to leave ash on to long it can or could turn your blonde Gray if you don't watch it,
I only want to lift a little not a lot other wise it wont look natural, it will look bleached not lifted just a little bit.
I think the more dark colors going on under the better perfect so now all you do is get it weaved all the colors you like ,, this way your roots and hair will look natural ..
I always only make 1 Row ear to ear Blended sewed together
because I like it flat and tight

Then I tape it all together

Start with

(1)Bohyme- 18/22
(Always on the bottom because of the weight and it works best for underneath /great color)

(1)Reallylove it hair weft 18/22
(I add this color because its a very warm-ish strawberry blonde colors great for depth coloring )

(1)Reallyloveit hair 613/27
(I add This hair because it has a lot of lighter color 613 its almost / color #60 blended with the beautiful color #27 its a beautiful mix).

(1)Bohyme- 18/22
( I love bohyme on top also because of the color and the weight the color is almost a light light blonde brown)

Then right about my weft I tip all the way around adding to get my layers in and then more in the front/ of my ear for the layered colors and the movement is great with tipped in hair ..

My Reallyloveit.com hair #22- #27 and its so beautiful even softer than when I first installed it .
new photos , I should add I never said a thing about the beard on this weft ..
To be honest, Its hard to see it .?
I have never been bothered by it ever.
No Scratching -:lipsbaby: - :dance girl: -
I LOVE THE FACT I HAVE NEVER EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT IT .
Someone asked me and thats the only reason I am even talking about ..
I forgot to even talk about it . and I know
for some that is a big deal if your taping in your wefts. like me
- :blowdryer:

I GUESS I SHOULD ADD-
I am not any any way liable for any hair problems or damage to anyone trying this method.

Hope this helps
Here is my tutorial on making my weft. Now that I did this I will add it to my tutorial

Hi! I'm new to this, sorry if this sound dumb. Does the Lg glue go on top of the tape? Then that attaches to my scalp? Rolling Eyes
Also what kind of thread and needle do I sew my wefts together with?

welcome and its not a silly question best to ask then not know that's what I always say Very Happy

You add the glue inside the tape to hold your wefts in snug as a bug and then you also paint
it on the outside where it will be attached to your head, Also you can you any size needle and
thread you like, it will be inside so it really doesn't matter, I have used GREEN thread Shocked
before when I couldn't find any to match my hair. But know one can see in if you cover it up with
your extra hair piece over the sticky part of the tape, some girls just cover that sticky side with
there own hair, I do not because I do not have enough of my own and because I find that it pulls your
hair if it starts to grow out, also it less messy when your taking it down.
OK I DO HOPE I HELPED FEEL FREE ASK MORE QUESTIONS IF YOU NEED..

Hi again another question I ordered tape and lg from you, but just wondering until I get them if I can use regular wig tape that is double sided the brand is called vapon that's the only kind I could find in town. I really want to have this done by friday. I was also able to buy lg. What's your opinion??? : :Thank You: :The lg is what sticks to my scalp. I had been thinking it was just tape.

I have never used it myself but some girls say its just sticky enough to hold it in place, but it doesn't last long, I think it all depends on how long you want it to stay in.
Really it comes down to taking the time to do the install and making the wefts and then if the vapon does not stick for you that's a lot of work to take down and redue a few days later.

Have you ever seen people using smaller strips all over? If so what's the pro's and cons and the difference between only using one weft like yours?

Yes you can use really small strips of tape for sure, I cut my to size all the time,
this is why I even sew them, so if I only want the tape and glue to cover the part that is
attached to my head with a tiny bit covering the other side of the weft this way I don't have
equal sides of tape. I hope that makes sense to you..
and I think depending on each person less is more, But I feel that if you have enough
hair top and bottom you don't always need a lot of tape layers going on. I also don't
like the feeling of having more than 1 row of wefted tape on but that's just me.
I also think wefted hair in tape does not move or flow like your own hair, and this is also the reason I love having a few fusion tips going on above it so it covers the weft and then it also moves with your own hair and you can add layering that way.

The pro or cons really is just all about your own hair if you have thick choppy hair then you will need more layering to make it look natural. so with that said its really about your style of cut and length of hair you have. Hope that helps.

How long can you wear that application before you remove it and reapply it, and how many times can you use that weft before replacing it?

Well I like to change mine up every 4 weeks or so, cause I like it tight to my head, but you can go on much longer, it really depends on you and how you take care of your taped in wefts. but many girls wear there taped in wefts a good 6-8 weeks and longer.
Also depending on what glue/tape your using and what you use to take it down with, and your cleaning methods
I think you can wear your taped in hair for as long as your hair last you really,

I have many wefts, I have taking down and put aside for another install down the road,
I love being able to change up my colors and length with my wefts.
I also only have 1 taped in weft all the way around from ear to ear,
so my take down and install is very simple and fast for me.. hope that helps :o)
